Evelyn S. Wallace was born January 2, 1936 in Helena, Alabama. She was the fourth of eight children born to the late Norman Louis Smith and Pearlie Wallace-Smith.
Evelyn, better known to family and friends as “Bubbye” accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a faithful and devout member to the Scott’s Grove Baptist Church, where she served as the mission president. She received her education in the Shelby County School System; where she was recognized as first in her class. She faithfully dedicated years of service to her work and retired from Elastic Corporation of America. She had an impeccable sense for fashion; rarely was she ever seen wearing the same outfit twice. Some of her favorite pastimes were baking, crossword puzzles, and shopping. Evelyn was a kind and loving woman who loved her family and friends. You could always count on “Bubbye” giving you a big welcoming smile with open arms.
Evelyn peacefully transitioned on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wallace; parents, Norman and Pearlie Smith; siblings, Norman Smith, Calvester Smith, and Ruby Wright; nephew, David Bush.
