Tessie W Harris

Ms. Tessie Harris began her life’s journey on November 9, 1941, to the parentage of the late Timothy and Thelma Wright in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Mrs. Harris gave her life to Christ at an early age when she joined the St. John Baptist Church.She was an active member as she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, served as the Sunday School Secretary, was a Matron and sung in the choir.

Ms. Harris attended Alabama State University where she received her degree in Elementary Education. After several years of teaching, she returned to Alabama State to receive her Master’s Degree. She served over 50 years as an active alumni. Mrs. Harris taught in the Coosa County School System for over 30 years before she retired. After retirement, she continued to remain active in the community as she volunteered for years at the Coosa Valley Medical Center.

The angel of death arrived at her home early on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, to escort Mrs. Harris through the pearly gates to her eternal resting place.

Ms. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Harris, with whom she was married to for 50 years, her parents, Timothy and Thelma Wright, her sisters, Patricia Wheeler and Ruth Thompson and her brother, Robert Wright.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her children, Paul (Tina) Harris, Roland (Adriene) Harris, Paula (Keith)Robinson, step-children Mavis Harris, Michael (Elizabeth) Harris, Beverly Woody and one brother, Timothy Wright, Jr. She leaves sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
