Alexis Darlene Lockhart Obituary

A beloved Daughter, Sister, Niece, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, Alexis Darlene Lockhart, just “Dar” to us, left this world and us unexpectedly, at age 56, early Friday, March 22, 2024, at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, AL. However, we know that God knew and had already made plans. Alexis was born on September 8, 1967, to parents Raymond and Virginia Lockhart of Sylacauga, AL. She joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and continued throughout her teen years but took a different path in her adult life.

Alexis, graduated with honors from BB Comer Memorial High School in May 1985. Her academic studies were continued at Jacksonville State University where in December 1996 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Just recently, on January 1, 2024, Alexis retired from the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) with 25 years of dedicated service. As an Administrative Support Assistant, III (ASA, III), she was a big-hearted, reliable employee who rarely missed work. Her commendable work ethics indicated her strength, independence and commitment to excellence. Alexis plans after retirement were to travel like she always wanted to do.

Furthermore, she loved Alabama football and was always cheering them on and was planning to cheer even more since she was now available to do so. Family was extremely important to Alexis, and she was fiercely loyal to everyone but especially to her nephews and nieces to make sure that she was loving and supportive in all their activities and accomplishments. We will always remember her quiet presence, infectious smile, and caring personality. Her presence in our heart and lives will be sorely missed.

Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Virginia Lockhart, Grandparents, Ernest and Bertha Wilson; Brothers, Marvin Wilson and Theotis Wilson; we feel that a special reunion is taking place as the baby sister has now joined the circle.

Alexis is survived by two brothers, George Wilson, Marty (Marian) Wilson; Five sisters, Marie Borden, Marion (Ulysses) Threatt, Jr., Vanessa (Henry Joe) Scott, Margaret (Dexter) McElrath, and the other pea in the pod, her sidekick, Marsha (Antonio) Threatt, all of Sylacauga, AL. Two aunts, Mary Frances Walker and Wille Bell Wilson; a host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends
