Alice F. (Harris) Dates

Alice Harris Dates journey began on October 8, 1945 to the parentage of the late Ernest Harris and the late Mable Foster Harris in Talladega County, Alabama.

At an early age, Alice, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Harpersville, Alabama. As a child, Alice was educated in the Shelby County School system and graduated from Shelby County Academy.  She was a dedicated employee with Kimberly Clark for more than twenty years.

Along Alice life’s journey, she met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie G. Dates.  Alice was very affectionate and compassionate when it came to her family.  She loved hard and loved entertaining her family and close friends.  She was truly the life of the party.  Alice’s love for people never allowed her to meet a stranger. She loved everybody and everybody loved Alice.  She always kept you laughing and was full of energy and enthusiasm. 

Alice accepted the Master call on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 while under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Welcoming Alice home was her husband, Willie G. Dates, parents, Ernest Harris and Mable Foster Harris, one son, Mitchell Dates, four brother, Isaac Harris, Fred Harris, Melvin Harris, and Sidney Ray Bush.

Although the departure of Alice has left many broken hearts that only God can heal, her love and fun memories will always be remembered and cherished by her loving children, Doris (Gilbert Gerard) Harris, Donna Dates, Clarissa (Germone) Wheeler, Wendy (Dimitris) Jones, Olympia Dates, Shonda (Cedric) Crawford, Tonia Dates and special dates, Constance (Cedana) Elston; Rev. Michael (Yvette) Dates, Reginald Dates, and Willie Dates; two sisters, Franky Harris and Earnestine Holifield; three brothers, Rev. Ernest Harris, Rev. Adam (Dianne) Harris and James Bush; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
