Titus, Alabama - Annie Ruth Holt was born on August 8, 1934, in Equality, Alabama to the parents of Mark Gilbert and Cassie Bell Gilbert.
Annie received her education at W.B. Doby High School in Elmore, County, Alabama. She furthered her education at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama where she received a bachelor's degree.
At an early age Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where she was a lifetime member and served as Sunday School teacher and clerk. She was a current member of Union #1 Missionary Baptist Church, Titus, Alabama.
Annie was a dedicated employee with Wetumpka Head Start for many years until her retirement.
Along Annie’s life’s journey she met and united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, the late Hardy Holt. Hardy preceded her in death on August 21, 2023. Their life together was a shining example of love and respect. There union was blessed with 63 beautiful years.
Annie was a member of Order of Eastern Star (OES) #345, member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), she served as Vice President of Morning Star District Women’s Auxiliary for 25 years. Later she became President of Morning Star District Women’s Auxiliary and served for 5 years. Mrs. Holt currently serve as President Emeritt and Treasurer of the Morning Star District Woman’s Auxiliary.
Annie departed this walk of life on March 1, 2024, under the care of Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. In Heaven, Annie will join her husband, Hardy Holt, mother, Cassie Bell Gilbert, father, Mark Gilbert, two daughters, Rita Holt, and Cathy Costley.
Her love will forever be remember by her loving children, Gloria Williams, Stanley Holt, Jerry (Angela) Holt, Steven (Nicole) Holt, Harvey (Wanda) Holt, And Marcus (Andrea) Holt; loving siblings, Bessie Jones, Bernadine Gilbert, Brenda McElrath, and Alonza Gilbert; seventeen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren; three sister in laws, Iteria Dunbar, Ella Roberts, and Sarah Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life for Annie Ruth Holt, age 89, will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00AM at Morning Star District Center, Kellyton, Alabama. Pastor Mark Leonard, Eulogist. Interment will commence in the Union #1 Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Titus, Alabama. Public viewing will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM with family hour at 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
