Antonio Eric "Black Bird" Morris Obituary

Antonio Eric Morris, affectionately known as “Black Byrd,” began his earthly journey on April 3, 1961, born to the parentage of Marvin Miller and Winnie Mae Strong in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Black Byrd attended Sylacauga High School, graduating with the Class of 1979. Following high school, he entered the workforce, dedicating more than 20 years of loyal service to Avondale Mills.

He had a deep love for sports—especially basketball. His adventurous spirit led him to travel and spend time in Ohio and Washington before returning home to Sylacauga. A true friend and supporter, he would drive you anywhere without hesitation.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama.

On October 30, 2025, at UAB Medical Center, God decided that Black Byrd had earned his rest and called him home to eternal peace.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; aunts and uncles; and four siblings: Marvin Miller Jr., Troy Morris, Gary Owens, and Cedric Owens.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Patricia Morris of Seattle, Washington; one daughter, Erionna Morris of Dayton, Ohio; his loving mother, Winnie (FA) Strong of Sylacauga; his father, Marvin (Portia) Miller of Sylacauga; and one granddaughter, Erielle Stephens of Dayton, Ohio.

He is also lovingly remembered by thirteen siblings, Telana (Johnny) Leonard, Miranda Miller, Marilyn Boatman, Tracey Howard, and Tammy Gunn, all of Alabama, Ramirez (Darlene) Morris, Swift Morris, Stephen Morris, Andre (Lashawnda) Miller, Melvin Miller, Kenneth (Terri) Owens, Denzel Harris, and Marvin Marbury, all of Sylacauga, Alabama. He also leaves behind a host of step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Black Byrd will be remembered for his loyalty, warm spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. His love for family, his joyful personality, and his generous heart will never be forgotten.
