Apostle Margie Sillmon’s earthly journey began on January 13, 1942, in Goodwater, Alabama. On July 2, 2025, she peacefully departed this life under the care of Grandview Medical Center, surrounded by love and faith.
Born to the late John E. Leonard and Mary L. Marbury Leonard, Apostle Sillmon was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, spiritual leader, and friend. She was a proud graduate of J.D. Thompson High School and went on to further her education, ultimately earning her doctorate degree—a testament to her lifelong commitment to growth, service, and excellence.
From an early age, Apostle Sillmon was nurtured in the faith at St. James AME Church in Goodwater. As her calling deepened, she later came under the leadership of Bishop Norwood, where her ministry flourished. She went on to become the esteemed pastor of Redeeming Life in Sylacauga, where she faithfully served for over 28 years.
Apostle Sillmon was known for her unwavering dedication to preaching and teaching the Word of God. Even in times of illness, she continued to proclaim the Gospel with boldness and compassion, embodying the very faith she so passionately shared.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Leonard, and her beloved sisters, Betty and Dorothy Leonard.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Stanley Leonard; devoted daughter, Margie Hawkins; treasured grandchild, Kaiden Hawkins; brothers, Reverend John Leonard, Otis (Sherlene) Leonard, and James Leonard; sisters, Doris (Melvin) Allen, Winnie (Louis) Childs, and Mary (Thomas) Pabsy. She is also remembered with love by her special Godsons, Pastor Ron Little, Kobe Pruitt, and Domonic Bennett, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and dear friends.
Apostle Margie Sillmon’s legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched. Her voice, her teachings, and her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
