Archie Lee McNeal, Jr. Obituary

Deacon Archie Lee McNeal, Jr. began his earthly journey on September 14th, 1940 in Turner County, Georgia, to the parentage of Archie Lee McNeal, Sr. and Ollie Mae Wilson Jordan.  Archie was affectionately known as PaPa by his family and friends.  He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later he united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama, where he was ordained as a deacon, taught Sunday School and was a part of the Friendship Church Choir until his health began to fail him.

Archie received his formal education in the Sylacauga City School System and graduated from East Highland High School in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Along Archie’s life’s journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Martha Mae Wilson on April 11th, 1965. 

Archie began his working career early in life and was a faithful dedicated employee with Avondale Mills Inc. for many years.  Archie later decided to make a career change and attended police academy and became a dedicated sheriff officer with Talladega County Sheriff’s office until his retirement of 27 years. 

Archie departed this walk of life on September 15th, 2022 under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Lee McNeal, Sr. and Ollie Mae Wilson Jordan, siblings, Tommy McNeal and Minister Jimmy Jordan.

Archie’s love will forever be cherished by his wife of 57 years, Martha Mae McNeal of Sylacauga, AL; six children, Carol (Gary) Harvey of Sylacauga, AL, Allison (William) Bennett of Orange Park, FL, Stacey (Tamara) McNeal of Childersburg, AL, Tracey McNeal of Sylacauga, AL, Rubi (Tony) McNeal of Jacksonville, FL, and Terrance (Sequita) McNeal of Jacksonville, FL; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren; six siblings, Cora L. Woodard of Jacksonville, FL, Bobbi (Roger) Favors of Conyers, GA, Jerri Jordan Woodard of Atlanta, GA, William Jordan, and Randolphus Jordan both of Ashburn, GA; special cousin, Saul McNeal of Hudson, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
