Bario James Mainor Obituary

Sylacauga, Alabama - Bario James Mainor, affectionately known as “Hoop,” was born on September 17, 1952, in Sylacauga, Alabama. He peacefully departed this life on March 23, 2026, at Coosa Valley Health Care Center.

Bario received his education at East Highland High School in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was raised in a God-fearing home and, at an early age, attended Jesus Christ Deliverance Temple, where he faithfully used his musical gifts to play the piano and organ.

Bario was known as a “jack of all trades.” He had a natural ability to work on cars, assist with truck driving, and lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. He was a dependable and caring presence in his community, often driving neighbors and friends to the store, appointments, and wherever they needed to go. Bario never met a stranger; he enjoyed talking with people, sharing encouragement, and bringing laughter through his playful sense of humor. He was truly a bright light in the lives of many.

In his leisure time, Bario enjoyed watching wrestling, but above all, he had a deep love for Auburn Tigers football. He was a devoted fan who proudly supported the War Eagles, often wearing clothing that displayed the Auburn colors. His enthusiasm and team spirit were unmistakable.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Wesley Mainor; mother, Rosa Lee Lauderdale; stepfather, Marion Lauderdale; brother, Donald I. Mainor; and two nephews, Lyndon B. Mainor and Errikus Nichols.

Bario leaves to cherish his loving memories: his sister, Regina Lauderdale of McDonough, Georgia; brother, Lyndon D. Lauderdale of Stockbridge, Georgia; aunt, Annie Jean Ciers of Birmingham, Alabama; special nephews, Donald I. Mainor, Jr. of Sylacauga, Alabama, Olandus M. Lauderdale of Marietta, Georgia, and Deangelo Q. Mainor of Anniston, Alabama; special niece, Natasha Mainor of Sylacauga, Alabama; devoted best friend, Peter Hughes of Sylacauga, Alabama; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
