Sylacauga, Alabama - Bobbie Jean Thomas, affectionately known to many as Ms. Bobbie or simply “Jean,” was born on September 16, 1938, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the late Dennis Wilson and Louise Kidd. She peacefully departed this walk of life on December 10, 2025, at Coosa Valley Healthcare Center, LLC, in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Ms. Bobbie received her education through the Clay County School System. From an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life, and she found great comfort and joy in reading her Bible daily.
In her working years, Ms. Bobbie was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She was first employed at The Coffee Pot Café, where she worked for several years. She later worked at Marble City Nursing Home before beginning her final and long-standing career at Coosa Valley Country Club, where she faithfully served for 25 years as the Head Cook until her retirement. Her culinary talents were so highly regarded that many desserts and entrées were named in her honor. Employers and coworkers alike consistently praised her commitment, skill, and excellence.
Ms. Bobbie possessed a sweet and gentle spirit. She was soft-spoken, kind-hearted, and carried herself with quiet grace. She enjoyed sitting on her porch for hours, listening to her gospel music, and reading her Bible. When her health allowed, she especially cherished going for drives with her beloved best friend Josephine “Sister”. She took pride in her appearance—loving her earrings and always enjoying having her hair pressed and curled.
Above all, Ms. Bobbie loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing laughter and joy. She embraced a simple life and was known for her comforting words. Whenever someone would leave her home or say goodnight, she would smile and say, “I’ll be right here, I ain’t going nowhere.” And she was right—she is not gone; she remains forever in our hearts.
Ms. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Wilson and Louise Kidd; her husband, Argentine Thomas; her children, James Thomas and Jerry Thomas; her brothers, Marvin Waites and Thomas Middleton; sister, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, her grandson, Errikus Nichols; her best friend, Josie M.
