Mr. Booker T. Brown, affectionately known as “Junior”, “Book, or BIG BOO” passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born on June 26th, 1948, in Sycamore, Alabama, Booker graduated from R.R. Moton High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Vietnam veteran from 1968 to 1970. Booker’s dedication to his country was a testament to his strength and courage.
Booker was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Rita Brown, on June 12th, 1971. He was known for his hard work ethic, spending many years as a dedicated employee at Avondale Mills in Sycamore before his retirement. Booker was a beloved member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Beyond his commitment to work, Booker cherished spending time with his family. He was a constant source of love and support, known for his playful spirit and love of giving his grandchildren “break money.” He was the life of the party, always ready with a story or a joke. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he also enjoyed watching the news and staying informed about current events.
Booker was a faithful member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board. He was preceded in death by his parents, 15 brothers and sisters, and one grandson, D’Andre LaQuan Brown.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Rita Brown; Daughter, Kimberly Robinson (Larry); Sons, Deric Brown (Ventura) and Cameron Brown (Tesa); grandchildren, Darius Brown (Nadia Brown), Kayla Crayton, Javion Wilson, Isaiah Wilson, Tameron Brown, Madison Brown, and Ajaye Robinson. Great grandchildren Gracee and Amina, one sister Myrtis Cook. Booker’s memory will be cherished by his family and all who knew him.
