Obituary

Mr. Buford Ray Bryant affectionately known as “Huggy Bear” a loving husband, father, brother, and friend was born on November 26, 1953 to the parents of John Richard Cook and Charlie Mae Bryant in Sycamore, Alabama.  At an early age Buford accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Mountain Home Missionary Baptist Church, Sycamore, Alabama.

Buford received his formal education in the Talladega County School System and graduated from Winterboro High School, and later furthered his education at Nunnelley State Technical College.  After receiving his education he began his working career and was employed with Floyd & Beasley Company, Avondale Mills, CBF Fabric in Talladega, Winterboro Fire Department, and Imery’s of Sylacauga where he later retired.

Along Buford’s life’s journey her met and untied in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Linda Taylor, this union was blessed with 34 years of marriage until his departure on March 31, 2023 under the care of Southern Care New Beacon Hospice and wife Linda, reuniting with his mother, Charlie Mae Bryant, father, John Richard Cook, one son, Derri L. Williams, two brothers, Roy R. Bryant and Gregory Bryant. 

His love will forever be cherished by his wife, Linda Bryant of Sycamore, AL; daughters, Chatarra McNeal, Christan Bryant, Lacreshia (Kendrick) Walker all of Childersburg, AL; Unlander (Rodney) Borden of Talladega, AL; son, Edwin (Zita) Williams of Jacksonville, AL; brothers, Larry Bryant, Rev. Alan (Robin) Bryant both of Sylacauga, AL, Charles (Lois) Bryant of Atlanta, GA, John Edward Cook of Sylacauga, AL, and Marlon (Devonshe) Cook of Talladega Springs, AL; sisters, Catherine Cook and Dianne Cook both of Talladega Springs, AL; special sister in laws, Sherron Mabry of Childersburg, AL, Latrina White of Sylacauga, AL, Barbara Kagler of Tallahassee, FL, and Kimberly Woods of Dallas, TX; two special cousins, Lovene and Darlene Bryant; and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
