Calvin DeWayne Nix earthly journey began on March 10, 1962 in Sylacauga, Alabama. Affectionately known as “Nose” was the beloved son of the late James A. Nix, Sr. and Bonnie Mae Lauderdale Nix. Mr. Nix accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Harper Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Nix received his formal education in the Talladega County School System and was a product of B.B. Comer Memorial High School. He excelled well in his education and graduated with the class of 1980. After receiving his education he became employed with Avondale Mills, Inc in Sylacauga, Alabama for many years.
Nose as he was affectionately known, was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He never met a stranger.
He departed this walk of life on February 7, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and Affinity Hospice Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Nix and Bonnie Mae Nix, nephew, Demetrius Nix, brothers, Marvin Nix and Larry Nix, sister in laws, Gloria Nix and Rebecca Nix.
His love will forever be cherished by his two daughters, Shawnnesse Oden and Shedrika White both of Sylacauga, AL; two sons, Byron (Crystal) Clopton of Dallas, TX, and Javor Gamble of Sylacauga, AL; two sisters, Tracey (Maurice) Johnson, and Cassandra (Rudolph) Varner both of Sylacauga, AL; eight brothers, James Nix, Jr., Elvis (Wendy) Nix, Benny Nix all of Sylacauga, AL, Wesley (Crystal) Nix of Villa Rico, GA, John Kenny Nix, Derrick Nix, Donald (Geraldine) Nix, all of Sylacauga, AL, Thaddeusl Johnson of Patterson, NJ; sister in law, Robin Nix of Sylacauga, AL; three aunts, Irene Nix Mack, Joyce Lauderdale, and Clara Dates all of Sylacauga, AL; two uncles, James Lauderdale and Larry (Shirley) Lauderdale of Hope Hull, AL; eight grandchildren, special friends, Kenneth McKenzie and Calvin Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
