Mr. Carl Lee Wilson the son of Frank Wilson and Mammie Lou Whetstone Wilson was born on January 15, 1963, in Talladega County, Alabama. He was affectionately known by family and friends as “Redman”.
Carl Lee received his education at Childersburg High School, in Childersburg, Alabama. After receiving his education, he was employed at Modern Cleaners for many years before being employed at Avondale Mills in Sylacauga, Alabama. While employed at Avondale, he worked in the Eva Gane Department until his health declined.
Along Carl’s life’s journey, he met the love of his life Ms. Izella McMillian. They united in Holy Matrimony on October 2, 2002.
Carl was a sports lover, and often played his favorite sport of baseball. Carl’s love for people never allowed him to meet a stranger. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior during his lifetime. He united with Liberty Christian Church in Harpersville, Alabama, under the leadership of Bishop Theoangelo Perkins, where he was a faithful and dedicated member.
Carl departed this walk of life on May 2, 2024, under the care of Miller County Hospital, Colquitte, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mammie Lou Wilson, father, Frank Wilson, brother, Benjemin Wilson, two sisters, Betty Lou Borden, and Frankie Mae Garrett Wilson, one brother-in-law, Elijah Kendrick.
His love will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 21 years, Izella M. Wilson of Childersburg, AL; one son, Carlos (Annetta) Swain of Childersburg, AL; two daughters, Carlislia McMillian and Shantayla McMillian both of Childersburg, AL; one sister, Ethel Kendrick of Sylacauga, AL; special grandson, A’Keyon Keith; six grandchildren, La’Kenya Swain, Ta’Kayla Swain, Amina Swain, Orlandez Harris, Orlandria Harris, and Orlanderius Harris all of Childersburg, AL; one uncle, Lewis Wilson of Sylacauga, AL; special nieces, Sharday Howard Mashika McMillian, and Valerie Garrett both of Sylacauga, AL; three brother in laws, Gary McMillian, Thomas McMillian, and Terry Borden; three sister in laws, Margaret McMillian, Evelyn McMillian, and Freida Garrett; two special friends, Timothy Brown and Carl Barkley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life for Carl Lee Wilson, age 61, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00PM at Liberty Christian Church, Harpersville, Alabama. Bishop Theoangelo Perkins, Eulogist. Interment will commence in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Sylacauga, Alabama. Public Viewing will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
