On August 26th, 1949, Carolyn J. Thomas entered into time, to the parentage of the late Ernest and Inez Thomas in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was the sixth child of fourteen, four preceded her in death. She received her formal education at East Highland High School, Sylacauga, Alabama. Carolyn was affectionately known as Sue by her family and friends.
Sue started her working career and invested many years employed with Kimberly Clark, until her retirement. Her determination was to enjoy life after she retired. She was simply extraordinary in the way that she dedicated herself to helping and loving others, spending time with her family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her”
Carolyn J. “Sue” Thomas, 72 years of age, transitioned on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022, under the care of Baptist South Medical Center, Montgomery, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Angela Thomas, three sisters, Annie Pearl Thomas, Mary Lykes, and Letitia Porch, and one brother, Benjamin Thomas.
Carolyn’s love will forever be cherished by her two sons, Kelvin Thomas and Demetrius (LaKisha) Thomas; Siblings, Ernest Thomas, Barbara (Anderson) Pope, Annie Stamps, James Thomas, Sherry Cowlin, Otis Thomas, Vickie Thomas, Gloria Thomas, and Tracy (Anthony) Gamble; grandchildren, Kelvin Hall, Denzel Hamilton, Shakayla Thomas, Dekerius Chambliss, Lexus Thomas and Tyler Thomas; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Proverb 18:24 refers to having a friend who sticks closer than a brother and Carolyn indeed experienced the friendship of a very faithful and committed friend who stood by her to the end. We honor this day, Belinda Russell for being that devoted friend.
