Carrie Peterson McGhee earthly journey began on August 16, 1963 in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was the daughter of Carl Crosier, Jr. and Geneva Woods.
At an early age, Carrie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Hollins Spring Baptist Church, Hollins, Alabama.
Carrie received her education in the Talladega County School system where she attended and graduated from B.B. Comer Memorial High School, Sylacauga, Alabama.
She began her career working for the United States Army for many years. Later she became a homemaker.
Along Carrie’s life’s journey she met the love of her life, Mr. Gregory McGhee, Sr. They united in Holy Matrimony and spent 44 beautiful years of marriage.
Carrie departed this walk of life on March 14, 2024, at her residence in Sylacauga, Alabama. In Heaven, she will reunite with her parents, Carl Crosier, Jr. and Geneva Woods, grandparents, Price and Cora Stringer, Henry and Helen Peterson, brothers, Henry Barefield and Wade Barefield.
Carrie’s love will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted husband, Gregory McGhee, Sr. of Sylacauga, AL; three children, LaTonya Peterson of Douglasville, Ga, Gregory McGhee, Jr. of Niceville, FL, and Tamisha McGhee of Sylacauga, AL; loving siblings, Michael (Misty) Barefield of Sylacauga, AL, Sara (Malcon) Strong, both of Goodwater, AL, Alan Barefield of Sylacauga, AL, Annie Crowe of Sylacauga, AL, Joseph (Lavern) Stringer of Sylacauga, AL, Kathy Crosier of Akron, OH, and Michael Johnston of Birmingham, AL, in-laws, George McGhee of Sylacauga, AL, Leslie (Gloria) McGhee of Fayetteville, NC, Pastor Kenneth (Lisa) Ragland of Birmingham, AL, and Barbara McGhee of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Tyriek, Tarell, Treaveontea, TayShaun, Cenetra; aunts, Rosie Austin, Mamie Minnifield, Mary Peterson, Bertha Peterson, Joyce Fomby, all of Sylacauga, AL, and Atheva Fluker of Hollins, AL, uncle, Robert Fuller of Sylacauga, AL; uncles, Javous (Mary) McGhee of Pearl, MS, and Eugene (Mary) McGhee of McDonough, GA; aunts, Emma Fairley of Lawndale, CA, and Marva McGhee of Kansas City, GA; 21 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews, one great great niece and one great great nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
