Cathy Jean Lauderdale

Sylacauga, Alabama - Mrs. Cathy Jean Lauderdale was born on August 8, 1954, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the late Gazzie Lee Thomas and Billy Joe Pope, Sr. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of many.

Cathy received her education in the Talladega County School System and graduated from B. B. Comer Memorial High School in 1972. She later entered into holy matrimony with Mr. Larry J. Stone on December 6, 1975. Through this union and throughout her life, she was blessed with a loving family that remained the center of her world.

For twenty-one dedicated years, Cathy was employed in the Central Supply Department at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She faithfully served her community through her work until health challenges led to her retirement in 2014. Following retirement, Cathy discovered and developed a passion for photography. She found great joy behind the camera, capturing precious moments and creating lasting memories for family and friends.

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Cathy peacefully departed this earthly life at her residence. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gazzie Lee Thomas and Billy Joe Pope, Sr.; her brother, Rickey Gamble, Sr.; and her grandson, DeAndre Jamal Stone.

Cherishing her precious memories are her three children: Chris Lauderdale, Adrian Stone, and Catharine Stamps, all of Sylacauga, Alabama; her grandchildren: RaeQuan (Keosha) Stone of Montgomery, Alabama, Yasmeen Stone, Dontavius Lauderdale, Aaliyah (Thomas) Minix, TeAndria Stone, Tedarius Stone, and Gavin Moon, all of Sylacauga, Alabama; her sisters: Vivian Pope, Felicia (Rainey) Pope, Cynthia (Edward) Ford, Sonji (LC) Swain, and Katrina Wells, all of Sylacauga, Alabama; her brother, Billy Joe (Katrina) Pope of Harpersville, Alabama; her brother, Parrish Sligh of New York; her sister-in-law, Phonda (Ricky) Gamble of Dayton, Ohio; her aunt, Louise (Nate) May of Cleveland, Ohio; four great-granddaughters: Ava Stone, Zuri Stone, Anaria Lauderdale, and Delilah Minix; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Cathy’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and dedication to family. Her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and caring heart will forever be remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
