Charles William Barber, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Charles William Barber, Sr., affectionately known as “Jack” or “Big C” was born on August 26, 1939 to the parents of R.T. Barber, Annie Raye Barber and a loving stepmother Annie Lee Barber in Talladega County, Alabama.

Charles confessed his love for Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Sycamore, Alabama with his father. Later he united with Mountain Home Baptist Church, Sycamore, Alabama. 

Charles was a graduate of R.R. Moton High School of Sycamore, Alabama. Where he had a passion for sports. He was a dedicated employee for many years with Avondale Mills, Inc in Sycamore, Alabama and Bon Air, Alabama.

Along Charles' life's journey he was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt.  He enjoyed gardening and loved to build things and do handyman work around his home.  He loved watching western movies and sports in his spare time.

Charles answered his master’s call on October 5, 2023 to his eternal rest.  He was preceded in death by his parents, R.T. Barber, Annie Raye Barber, and Annie Lee Barber, mother of his children, Frances Ann Player - Barber, mother and father in law, Leora Player and Anniston Taylor, brothers, James (Mary) Player, Richard (Pearlie) Player, Hughie (Sally) Player, Eddie Player, sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Phillips, brother in laws, Alvin Abraham, Earl Stripling, and Eddie Rowe, grandchildren, Shaquandra Barber, Jaden Moss, Kitrick Watson, Jr., and Kimora Barber.

His love will forever be cherished by three sons, Charles (Agnes) Barber, Jr. of Sycamore, AL, Cedric (Cheryl) Garrett of Talladega, AL, Robert T.(Agnes) Barber of Sycamore, AL; four daughters, Victoria Ann Barber of Sycamore, AL, Mary Jean Barber (Charles) Godfrey, Gloria Denise Barber, and Doleen Allison Barber all of Sylacauga, AL; two brothers, David (Henryetta) Barber and Michael Barber both of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Bessie Rowe and Christine Barber both of Tulsa, OK; brother in law, Delores (Marilyn) Player; sister in laws, Marie Player of Talladega, AL, and Belle Easter Wilson of Montgomery, AL; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
