Charlie G. Evans, Jr. earthly journey began on December 10, 1956 in Childersburg, Alabama to the parents of Charlie G. Evans, Sr. and Marion Hamilton Evans.
Charlie Jr., received Christ as his Lord and savior at an early age and united with Enon Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, Alabama. Later during Charlie Jr. life’s journey he was ordained as a Deacon. He was faithful and dedicated to the ministry. Charlie Jr. served as the Chairman of Deacon Board, and was a part of the Enon Male Chorus.
Charlie Jr., received his formal education in his early years and attended Phyllis Wheatley High School, and graduated from Childersburg High School. He furthered his education and attended Nunnelly Technical College in Childersburg, Alabama, where he received a certificate in Carpentry Cabinet Building. After receiving his education, he was employed with Coosa Pines Mills for 40 years and retired May 2019.
Charlie Jr., life’s journey was impacted the most when he met and united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Joycelyn Gaddis on May 12, 1984. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage and became the proud parents of his bundle of joy, Tekoya. He had a passion for restoring antique cars and trucks. Charlie’s love for his family and his girls, Jay and Tekoya was amazing. He enjoyed playing with his two God granddaughters, Autumn and Khloe Carter. Charlie Jr. served as Vice President of the Beautification Board in Sylacauga. He was a wonderful person who didn’t mind giving a helping hand to help throughout the community.
Charlie Jr., departed this walk of life on December 8, 2023 under the care of Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie G. Evans, Sr. and Marion Hamilton Evans, grandparents, Gertrude Graham, Willie Hamilton, Rev. William Evans, and Ethel M. Evans, aunts, Emma Twymon, Vivian Datcher, Maggie Evans, Doris Hale, and Hector Stamps, uncles, Willie Vincent, and Wiley Hamilton, mother in law, Perrilla Glenn, father in law, William Mallory, and one brother in law, Mike Pitts.
His love will forever be cherished by a loving wife of 39 years, Joycelyn Evans; his bundle of joy, Tekoya Evans; three sisters, Rev. Sharon (Cedric) Hughes, Sandra Evans, and Wanda (Kenneth) Mathis; three aunts, Willie Mae Shepard, Sandra Jean Gaddis, and Patricia (David) Johnson; six uncles, Cecil E. Hamilton, Randy E. (Brenda) Hamilton, Kenneth E. Hamilton, Marvin B. Hamilton, Calvin L. Hamilton, and Lonnie (Gale) Evans; five sister in laws, Jacqueline Gaddis, Yola (Dave) Kelly, Renee Pitts, Gina Pitts, and Yvette (James) Nelson; four brother in laws, Rev. Dennis (Shannon) Gaddis, Larry Hamilton, Reginald Mallory, and Darryl (Sundra) Mallory; two special brothers, Robert Leon White, and Willie Frank Black; five special friends, Roscoe Anderson, William Franklin, Lynn Borden, Earnest Rosten, and George Cook; seventeen nieces and nephews, three great nieces, two God daughters, three God sons, two God granddaughters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
