Sylacauga, AL – Celebration of life for Mr. Christopher S. Houser, 47, will be held on Monday, December 23rd at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, AL at 11:00 AM. Lieutenant Colonel Christopher McKinney and Pastor Kendall Burton, officiating. Committal Cermony to be held in Sylacauga Cemetery, Sylacauga, AL. Visitation will be held Sunday, 1PM to 8PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Christopher S. Houser affectionately known to friends and family as “Housequake” or “Big Chris”. He was a product of the Sylacauga School System. He is a 1990 graduate of Sylacauga High School. He was also a 2003 graduate of Talladega College, B.A. History. He was a loyal and dedicated member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Mr. Houser was a long time barber (32 years) and business owner in Sylacauga, AL. He was a devoted grandson, son, brother, friend, and fraternity member. He enjoyed interacting with the children who came into his barbershop. He did more than provide haircuts. Parents intrusted their children with him because he provided a safe environment, discipline and life - lesson. Mr. Houser had a special place in his heart for mentoring young men in the community.
Chris is proceeded in death by his grandmother, Flora Houser; step father, Percy L. Hale; and mother, Mary Jo Houser; and brother, Trevan Hale.
On December 17, 2019 Mr. Christopher S. Houser departed this walk of life at Baptist South Medical Center, Montgomery, AL.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories a loving father, Willie Frank (Elaine) Black of Childersburg, AL; sister, L. Necole Houser of Sylacauga, AL; brothers, T. Demond (Taneaka) Houser of Westover, AL; Antoine Borden of Sylacauga, AL; Gaylon Black of Birmingham, AL; Dexter Hale of Goodwater, AL; and Coreata Romero Houser of Birmingham, AL; uncles, Wayne (Lorraine) Houser of Harpersville, AL; T.J. (Fashanda) Evans of Sylacauga, AL; and the late Jerry Houser of Tuskeegee, AL; aunts, Mary (the late Michael Roy) Williams of Sylacauga, AL; Denetta Lee of Sylacauga, AL; Debra Houser of Sylacauga, AL; and Teresa (Derrick) Houser - Nunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
