Childersburg, Alabama - Christopher Cornell Keith, affectionately known as "Skillet Row," "Skillz," and "Skitso Frantic," was born on March 24, 1977, to Brenda Keith-Hawkins and the late Humphrey Keith. From an early age, he was a member of Evangel Temple Deliverance Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Humphrey Keith, and his grandparents: Minister Hercules and Joyce Stallworth, Johnnie Mae Keith, Johnny Taul Garrett, and a special brother, Sintori Fluker.
Skillz loved his family and friends dearly. He was a genuine person who simply wanted to share his story in his own way. He accomplished this through writing and music, becoming a true legend in the rap world. Many knew him for his remarkable talents. His gifts extended to mastering every sport he played, including basketball, baseball, and football. Throughout his sports journey, his teams often enjoyed undefeated seasons. He encountered many amazing people during this time who had a positive impact on his life, including Coach Malley Limbaugh, the late B.J. Meeks, and Kevin Wesson, whom he loved and respected as father figures. His pride and joy were his mother (BK) and his daughter. He worked hard every day to become a better person and man for himself and for them.
Chris is survived by his mother, Brenda Keith-Hawkins (Wayne); his loving daughter, Marley Phallon Keith; two brothers, Keedric (Jennifer) Keith and Jamaar Morgan; two sisters, Kenya Woodgett (Darron) Johnson and Katrena Keith; five special brothers, Jason Twymon, Dontavious Mcmillian, Antonia McGowan, Carlos Feagan, and Jerel Stone; five special sisters, Laniya Borden, Haylee Flynn, Marlena Rebecca Wood, Keyston Buckner, and Brook Roberson; his devoted girlfriend, Amanda Hores; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A limb had fallen from the family tree
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease; my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes, we’re together again.”
