Mrs. Clara Mae Scott, affectionately known as “Sis,” was born on September 30, 1930, in Dadeville, Alabama. On October 30, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sis received her education through the sixth grade and later dedicated her life to service as a housekeeper. Her work was done with pride, humility, and a strong devotion to caring for others.
Petite in stature yet mighty in spirit, Sis was feisty, fun-loving, and deeply caring. Family was the heartbeat of her life. She found joy in every moment spent with them—nurturing, guiding, and loving unconditionally. She took great pride in caring for her family until her health no longer allowed, and her warmth and tenderness will be forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Isaac Scott and Selester Debardelabon, Sr.; her son, David Jr.; daughters, Mary Pearson and Barbara Keith; grandchildren, LaTonya Whitson, Tilon Debardelabon, Pierre Whitson, and Toney Keith, Jr.; sisters, Pearl Lee McGowan; and brothers, Freddy Shealy, James Shealy, Sylvester Shealy, and Willie James Shealy.
Cherishing her memory are her devoted son, Selester Debardelabon, Jr. (Doris Whitson) of Talladega, AL; one daughter, Deborah Whitson of Sylacauga, AL; her sister, Gertrude Greyhouse of Dadeville, AL; nineteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her love, strength, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of compassion, family devotion, and unwavering care will forever be cherished.
"A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled: A place is vacant in our home, which can never be filled. "Clara" will not be forgotten through the earth he is no more, but always a beautiful memory of one we love so dear.
