Ms. Claudia Mae Gilder Burns was born on February 15th, 1932, in Dadeville, Alabama to the parentage of Horace Gilder and Ossie Mae Heard Gilder. At an early age Mrs. Claudia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Saint Thomas United Methodist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. She received her education in the Tallapoosa County School System.
Along Ms. Claudia’s life’s journey met and united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Gurtis Burns. To this union four children were born. Claudia had a passion for children. She started a career as a nanny for Joel Duffey. She later became an employee at Mountainview Elementary School until her retirement. Claudia enjoyed attending the Senior program at the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation. She loves baking, making crafts, singing and spending time with family.
Ms. Claudia departed this walk of life on July 7th, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Ossie Mae Gilder, sister, Dorothy Burns, brothers, Butrand (Jabo) Gilder and Henry C. Gilder, grandchildren, Jeffrey Burns and Morgan Burns.
Ms. Claudia’s love will forever be cherished by her children, Betty (Willie) Wilson, Yvonne (James) Isome, Roger (Carmen) Burns, and Randy (Brenda) Burns; grandchildren, Phillip (Laura) Burns, Darrell Burns, Amanda (Senica) Thomas, Raven (Cody) Richerson, Cholie Burns, R.J. Burns, Randy (Jessica) Burns, Kimberly Burns, Katrena (Tyrone) Garrett, and Randy Burns, Jr.; eleven great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren, five nieces and three nephews, special love ones and relatives, Doris Ann Cook, Yourlanda Burns, Angela Wilson, and Winnie Mae Strong and a host of other relatives and friends.
