David Lee (Big Daddy) Wilson was born on August 3, 1935 to the parentage of the late Augusta Wilson and the late Ruby Townsend Wilson in Talladega Springs, Alabama. To their union eight other siblings were born.
David was educated in the Talladega County School System, attending Phyllis Wheatly High School, in Childersburg, Alabama. After leaving school, he was employed by Parker Fertilizer Company, which later became Pursell Industries, for fifty plus years.
At an early age, David confessed Christ as his personal savior, united with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was a faithful member until his health began to fail in 2017.
Along David’s life’s journey, he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Janice Bledsoe on December 3, 1988. They remained united as one for more than thirty years.
David answered the Master call on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home in Sylacauga, Alabama, under the care of his devoted wife. Additional care givers was a team from Southern New Beacon Services, which provided excellent care, and personal care providers, Lula Taylor, CC, Lesha, and Pam. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, four brothers, Augusta Jr., Edward, Mose, and Charlie, two sisters, Glenda, and Gladys.
His love and precious memories will always be remembered and cherished by his loving wife, Janice B. Wilson of Sylacauga, AL; one son, Michael Wilson; two grandchildren, Michael and Michala both of Sylacauga, AL; two sisters, Martha (Archic) McNeal of Sylacauga, AL; and Mattie Thomas of Childersburg, AL; several brothers in law, sisters in law, and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
