Deacon George Ernest Cook

Deacon George Ernest Cook’s earthy journey began on September 25, 1926, in Talladega County, to the union of Ollie Burton and Ernest Cook.

Deacon Cook accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with New Maryland Baptist Church. He later became an ordained Deacon at New Maryland.  He loved singing God’s praises during devotion and with New Maryland male chorus.

Along George’s life’s journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Fannie Mae Player.  The two remained happily married for many years. 

Deacon Cook departed this walk of life on Sunday, November 21, 2021 under the care of Citizens Baptist Medical Center, Talladega, Alabama.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mae Player-Cook, sisters, Ola Mae Perkins, Annie Swain, and Ellen Bernice Cook, brothers, William L. Cook, Albert Cook, and Bobby Cook.

George’s love and precious memories will forever by cherished be three brothers, Frank Cook, John Cook, and Ollice Cook; two sisters, Martha Ragland and Bernice Garrett and a host of foster children, nieces, nephews, many other relatives, church family and friends.
