Deacon Walter Brown Obituary

Deacon Walter Lee Brown was born on July 23, 1964, to the parentage of Mother Essie M. Brown and the late Deacon John L. Brown in Childersburg, Alabama.

Walter accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Childersburg, Alabama.

Walter attended Watwood Elementary School, Phyllis Wheatley Middle School, and Childersburg High School the home of the Mighty Tigers where he was a football player #74. He also completed his diploma in heavy equipment operation from East Alabama Skills Center in Childersburg, Alabama, October 27, 1984.

After a fragmented courtship over the years, marrying and divorcing separate people, Walter was divinely reunited with Marilyn through his good friend and Marilyn’s brother-in-law, the Late SGT Dennis R. Carter.

Marilyn was living in Seattle, Washington at that time, over 2000 miles away. The Lord brought her home to be with her true soulmate, Walter. Within two years, they were united in holy matrimony on her birthday June 12, 1999.

Although there were no children born to this union, Walter had special nieces, Tamesha Carter, Patrice Carter, Cindy Hutchins, Alexis Carter and Alexis Beecher and nephews, Akirah Chaney, Jason Brown, Orlando Cole, Jr. and Kevin Cole.

Walter and Marilyn later united with Liberty Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Theangelo Perkins during its early beginnings. Walter began teaching Sunday School while being Asst. Superintendent. He was on the Board of Trustees, and Finance Committee. He was ordained a deacon on February 18, 2007. He was one of the founding members of the Liberty Christian Male Chorus.

Walter was the first to arrive and the last to leave, providing transportation to Sunday School, Bible Study, and Sunday Service to serve members.

Walter worked ten years at Shellcast Corp. and twenty years at Imery’s. During his working years he gained many friends and became well respected by his fellow co-workers.

With all these activities, he still found time to ride and rebuild motorcycles, watched drag racing and was a master of the barbeque grill. He also loved carving wood making crosses and walking canes for people.

Walter gained his wings and calmly transitioned to his eternal home on Monday, May 31st , under the care of Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster, Alabama. Welcoming him home with outstretched arms was his father, the late Deacon John L. Brown.

Walter’s loving memories will be cherished and remembered by a loving and devoted wife, Marilyn Brown of Sylacauga, AL, Mother Essie Brown of Sylacauga, AL, Sister Cynthia Brown of Sylacauga, AL; brother, Rev. Willie Brown (Pastor Laura Brown) of Talladega, AL; Aunt Evelyn Ware of Sylacauga, AL; Sister-in-laws, Georgia Carter of Sylacauga, AL, Lillie Chaney of Ft.
