Dewayne Garrett

Childersburg, Alabama - Dewayne Garrett was born on December 23, 1964 to the parentage of Mr. Isaac Garrett, Sr. and Mrs. Cornelia Waters Garrett in Talladega County, Alabama.  He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church. 

Dewayne received his formal education in the Talladega County School System and graduated from Childersburg High School.

During Dewayne’s early years of life, he was employed by Georgia Marble Quarry. His love for driving led him to driving trucks for many years for various companies.  Later, he was employed with Honda Manufacturing of Alabama. He retired with 20 years of service. 

Dewayne had a passion for cars and had a beautiful collection of automobiles.  He often loved to showcase his automobiles on sunny weekends.

He met and married the love of his life, LaCindy Marbury and to this union a miracle son was born, Dewayne Garrett, Jr.

Dewayne departed this walk of life on Saturday, May 10, 2025 under the care of Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.  He reunited with his parents, Isaac and Cornelia Garrett and other relatives.

His love will forever be remembered by his loving and devoted wife, LaCindy Garrett of Childersburg, AL; loving son, Dewayne Garrett, Jr. of Childersburg, AL; siblings, Larry (Victoria) Garrett, Irene (Jerry) Bryant both of Childersburg, AL, Gwendolyn (Calvin) Cook of Sylacauga, AL, Sandra Faye (Marvin) Hale of Goodwater, AL, and Isaac (Brenda) Garrett, Jr. of Childersburg, AL; father and mother in law, Eugene (Poole) and Ruth Marbury of Childersburg, AL; brother in laws, Chris (Victoria) Marbury of Childersburg, AL, Mark (Kevin) Marbury of Los Angeles, CA, Dexter (Missy) Marbury of Childersburg, AL, and Pastor James (Lady Shanee) Marbury of Childersburg, AL; aunts, Inez Garrett of Daytona Beach, FL, Linda Jean Curry of Childersburg, AL, and Mae Lois (Lee) Keith of Alpine, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life for Dewayne Garrett, Sr. age 60, will be on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Pastor James Marbury, Eulogist.  Interment will commence in the Lilly Rhoden | Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Childersburg, Alabama.  Public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
