Donald Jose Hearst (Bull) Cowlin

Born on December 16th, 1958 in Talladega County,  Donald Jose Hearst Cowlin was a long awaited blessing for his parents, the late Earlie V. and Robert Cowlin.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda LaVerne Hearst.

Bull, as he affectionately called by most people that knew him was educated in the Talladega County School System, graduating from Phyllis Wheatley High School and attended Tuskegee University.  He was a certified carpenter and had a long and productive work history until illness rendered him disabled and forced him to retire.

Bull lived life to the fullest.  He was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed fishing and sometimes hunting.  One outstanding moment in his lifetime was the birth of his daughter, Marquita, who married Dennis Ervin.  They presented him with twin grandsons, Javen and Ka’Khi.

Early in the morning, Thursday March 10th, 2022, the dash between birth and transition was closed and he crossed that river that we all will have to navigate.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory: a loving daughter, Marquita (Dennis) Ervin, two grandsons, Javen and Ja’Khi of Oxford, AL; children of the home, that look up to him as a father figure, Caliea Hamilton and Ezra, Cameron (C.J.) Hamilton and Levi, Mariyah, Leia and Maddie of Childersburg, AL, Trivia Norwood of Atlanta, GA, Jason Swain of Odena, AL, and Ashley McCrimmon of Alex City, AL; five sisters, Karen Jones, Constance Jones, Monica Wiley all of Philadelphia, PA, Norma Harris of Cleveland, OH, and Judy (Jerome) Heard of Tampa, FL; three brothers, Brian Jones of Binghamton, NY, Roger Cowlin, and David Cowlin both of Childersburg, AL; two aunts, Althea Hearst Hamilton of Childersburg, AL, and Sheila Hearst Kennedy of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
