Donnie Avila Cooke earthy journey began on August 7th, 1952, in Talladega County, Alabama to the parentage of Flora V. Cooke.
At an early age, Donnie, accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. He received his formal education in the Talladega County School System and became a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School, Childersburg, Alabama. Donnie continued his education and attended Portland State University.
Donnie began his work career in Portland, Oregon at Dillingham Ship Repair. Later Donnie traveled back to Sylacauga, Alabama and became a dedicated employee with Avondale Mills in Sylacauga, Alabama.
On June 3rd, 2022, Donnie departed this walk of life, under the care of Talladega Healthcare Center Rehab Select, Talladega, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora V. Cooke, grandparents, George and Pal Cook.
Donnie’s love will always be cherished by his daughter, Dr. Lekha Mouling of Brandywine, Maryland; two grandchildren, Lauren Mouling and Kelly Mouling both of Brandywine, Maryland; one brother, Charles (Alberta) Cook of Sylacauga, AL; two aunts, Dorothy Grimmett and Mary Price; one uncle, Minuard Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
