Sylacauga, Alabama - Doris Ruth Borden was born to Major and Cora Bell Brown on August 13, 1940, in Sylacauga, Alabama. She transitioned from this life, to be in the presence of the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Princeton Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.
Doris was raised by her grandmother, Rochelle Hill in the Walco Community, attending Mignon Elementary School and graduated from East Highland High School in the Class of 1958. After graduation, she relocated to Dayton, Ohio. While in Dayton, she worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs for many years. She served as a caregiver for her mother and many family members.
Doris accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and upon returning to Sylacauga, reunited with her home church, St. John Missionary Baptist Church where her family were founders of the church. She served as the church Secretary and sang in the Choir. She was a faithful and dedicated member until her health no longer permitted.
She later married Frank Borden, Jr. She was employed as a Supervisor at the Sylacauga Walmart, retiring after several years. She was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed reading. Although she never had children of her own, she loved her nieces, nephews and the Walco Community.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Grandparents, Husband, Stepson, Ricky Borden, Sisters, Evelyn, Joyce, Mary Lee, and Cassandra, Brothers, Jimmy Lee, Harry, Marvin, and Billy Mack, Lifelong friend, Margie Jean Allen.
She will be missed by: Sisters, Cora Stone, Sierra Vista, AZ, Jackie and Michelle Brown, Detroit, MI, Danielle Brown, Memphis, TN, Pamela (J. D.) Chance, Houston, TX, and Casetta (Mathias) Brown, St. Louis, MO; Stepson, Dwight (Lele) Borden; Brother-in law, Terry Borden; Sisters in law, Loretta Borden, Ella Borden and Lillian Thomas; Special friends, Barbara Ann Prater and Inez Hart; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, her Walco Community and The St. John Church Family.
