Dorothy Bledsoe (Ms. Dot) McKinney

Sylacauga, Alabama - Dorothy Lee Bledsoe-McKinney “Ms. Dot” was born on June 19, 1942, to the parents of Luke and Pearlie Bledsoe in Sylacauga, Alabama. 

Dorothy began her walk with Christ at an early age at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama.  She later united with Reaching the World Bible Church in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Dorothy received her education at East Highland School in Sylacauga, Alabama.

On January 19, 2024, Dorothy Lee Bledsoe-McKinney traded her earthly journey for eternal rest, reuniting with her parents, Luke and Pearlie Bledsoe, brother, Gary Bledsoe, and grandson, Chandler McKinney.

Her love will forever be cherished by her loving children, Vanessa Bledsoe, Linda (Danny) Averette, Felicia McKinney, Carolyn (Santana) Carter and Tiffney McKinney all of Sylacauga, AL; Virgil McKinney, Jr., and Anthony McKinney both of Sylacauga, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Markeylar (Jamichael) Sanders, Keith McKinney, Brittany Bledsoe, Kimberly McKinney, Adonis Averette, Ladonis Averette, Kyla McKinney, Maliyah Carter, Jayla Carter, Nahla Sanders, Jamya Carter, Javien Carter, and Raina Carter; four great grandchildren, Zakiya, Elon, Ki’mora, and Zayden; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Celebration of life for Dorothy Lee Bledsoe-McKinney, 81, will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 1:00PM at Reaching the World Bible Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. Pastor Henry Looney, Eulogist. Interment will commence in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM, family hour 5:00PM to 6:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
