Dorothy Jo Kidd began her earthly life on January 9, 1960 in Shelby County, Alabama to the parents of Mr. Earnest E. Kidd, Sr. and Mrs. Willie Jo Marbury Kidd. Dorothy joined her parents, grandparents, brother, Louis A. Kidd, and other relatives in her heavenly transition on July 9, 2023. Dorothy’s life journey was full of life, laughter, kindhearted and loving.
She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and united with Coosa Valley Baptist Church, Vincent, Alabama, until she decided to relocate to Trussville, Alabama. She was educated in the Shelby County School System and graduated from Vincent High School. After completing high school, she enlisted in the United States Army October 24, 1978, and served this country until her retirement October 31, 1998.
Shortly after her retirement she was employed with Shelby County School System and became a dedicated and faithful Cafeteria Manager. She retired from the school system in 2021.
She leaves to celebrate her legacy, two daughters, DeHazel J. Young and Devona J. Kidd both of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren, Toni, Tion, Jace, Jaidyn and Jaila; two brothers, Earnest Kidd, Sr. (Carmen) and Curtis D. Kidd both of Vincent, AL; four sisters, Lynette Hamilton, Gussie Kelley both of Vincent, AL; Eva Matthew (Victor) and Jacqueline Kelow (Mark) both of Birmingham, AL; step grandmother, Della Ann Marbury of Goodwater, AL; paternal aunts and uncles, Emma Collier and Shirley Johnson both of Detroit, MI, Earnestine Lee of Montevallo, AL, Josephine Kidd of Vincent, AL, Richard Kidd, Sr. (Barbara) of Alabaster, AL, and Curtis Kidd (Nancye) of Bowling Green, KY; maternal aunts and uncles, Dorothy Moon of Washington, D.C., Frankie Allen (Nathaniel), Laura Harrell, Jimmy Marbury (Ida) both of Goodwater, AL, and Mildred Marbury of Birmingham, AL; three true and dedicated friends, Mimi Butler, Sheryl Nobles and Sara Sumler; 16 nieces, and nephews, and a host of great, great great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
