Dwight Cornelius Moon

Dwight Cornelius Moon was born on October 7th, 1950, to the parents of William Miles Moon and Alberta Taylor Moon in Sylacauga, Alabama. At an early age Dwight accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama where he served as a Minister of Music.

He received his formal education in the Sylacauga City School System and graduated from East Highland High School, Sylacauga, Alabama.  After receiving his education Dwight enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam.  Upon returning home, he furthered his education at Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Alabama, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. 

Dwight was later employed with the State of Alabama Education Department; he retired in 2013.  Dwight had a passion for music and was gifted with a voice to sing.  He used his singing gifts to sing Gospel music.  Dwight's passion for music led him to record his own music and songs. Dwight loved the Lord, and used his gifts to uplift the Lord’s name, whenever and wherever he could.

Along Dwight’s life’s journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Angela Jackson

Dwight transitioned from this walk of life on the 12th day of February 2023 at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Miles Moon and Alberta Taylor Moon and other beloved relatives.

His love, and music will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Angela Moon; daughters, Terri (Ricky) Bryant, April (Larry Jr.) Orr, and April (Darryl) Heatley; sons, Terrance (Lorinda) Moon, Rodrick (Tara) Jackson, and Theodore (Destinee) Robinson, III; fourteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; one sister, Cleo M. Daniel; five brothers, William Moon, Gregory (Ramonia) Moon, Aaron Moon, Tyson (Cathy) Moon, and Anson (Michele) Moon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
