Mr. Dwight Delano Carter’s earthly journey began on February 2, 1957 to the parents of Elisha Carter and Florine Crumpler Carter in Sylacauga, Alabama. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.
Dwight was educated in the Sylacauga City School system and graduated at Sylacauga High School, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was a faithful employee with Imerys in Sylacauga, Alabama for many years until his retirement. Dwight was apart of the Cedar Creek Male Chorus.
Dwight departed this walk of life on June 16, 2023 under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Elisha Carter, mother Florine Carter, sister, Janice Crayton, and daughter, Shalanda “Lama” Pope.
His love will forever be cherished by his loving children, Christopher M. (Felicia) Franklin, Tamara S. Franklin, Rhonda Pope, Shayla Franklin, Corey “Dale” Franklin, and Bridgette M. Franklin; grandchildren, Christopher M. Franklin, Jr., and Courtland M. Franklin; loving siblings, Vanessa Ann Carter, Harold Craig Carter, Alton Brent Carter, Erskine Carter, and James Elisha (Lela) Carter; Special brother, Edward “Moochie” Carter; special friends, Willie “Rabbit” Wilson, and Houston Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
