Eddie Eugene Walker, Sr.

Sylacauga, AL -  Celebration of Life for Mr. Eddie E. Walker, Sr., age 58, will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, AL. Rev. Kendall Burton, officiating. Interment will be held in Sylacauga Cemetery, Sylacauga, AL.  Visitation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021  1:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. 

Eddie Eugene Walker, Sr. earthly journey began on December 7, 1962 to the parentage of the late Willie L. Walker and Mrs. Julia Walker Garrett in Columbiana, Alabama.

At an early age, Eddie, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with First Baptist Church, Wilsonville, Alabama, but later in life he fellowship and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.  As a child, Eddie was educated and graduated from Shelby County School.  After graduating school, Eddie, joined the United States Marine Corps. and served this country for four years.  He was a dedicated employee with Avondale Mills Textile Plant in Sylacauga, Alabama until its closure.  He continued working and became a employee with Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, Lincoln, Alabama for a few years.

Along Eddie’s life’s journey, he met and united in holy matrimony to Melissa Riggins on July 8, 1993. Eddie was very affectionate and compassionate when it came to his family and friends.

Eddie departed this walk of life on March 17, 2021 in the comfort of his home.  He was preceded in death by his father, Willie L. Walker, one brother, James Earl Walker.

His love and fun memories will always be remember and cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Melissa R. Walker of Sylacauga, AL; one son, Eddie Walker, Jr. of Sylacauga, AL; loving devoted mother, Julia W. Garrett of Columbiana, AL; four step children, Faith Johnson, Felicia Riggins, Carlos Riggins, and Cedrick Riggins all of Sylacauga, AL; three brothers, Willie Walker II of Crestwell, AL; Henry L. Walker and Billy J. Walker both of Columbiana, AL; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
