Errikus Shauntel "Rico" Nichols

Sylacauga, Alabama -   Errikus Shauntel Nichols' earthly journey began on July 8, 1988 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the parents of Lyndon Lauderdale and Hope Nichols Johnson. Affectionately known as Rico, received his Heavenly wings on October 9, 2024 at UK Healthcare Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky.

Rico dedicated and gave his life to Christ at an early age and united his faith with Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.  While attending worship he took part in the Pine Grove Crusaders department.  Rico's desire to thrive with excellence was his foremost objective in school.  He was a graduate in the class of 2006 at Childersburg High School. 

Rico spent most of his childhood growing up in the Odena Community before moving to Lexington, Kentucky.  He was a dedicated employee with the Veteran Hospital as a Coordinator.

Rico was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donell “Buster” Nichols, Alberta Nichols, Marion Lauderdale, Rosa Lee Lauderdale, and Mildred Lee, one special niece, Lashawnte Stone.  His love will forever be cherished by his loving son, Keenaj Nichols of Sylacauga, AL; loving mother, Hope Johnson of Lexington, KY, loving father, Lyndon Lauderdale of Sylacauga, AL; devoted stepfathers, Larry McGhee of Sylacauga, AL, and Chris Johnson of Lexington, KY; one loving grandmother, Bobbie Jean Thomas of Sylacauga, AL; grandfather, John Townsend of Talladega Springs, AL; six sisters, Tiannicca McGhee and Sharece McGhee of Lexington, KY, Santana Turner of Childersburg, AL, Tiffanie (Andrew) Bagley of Birmingham, AL, Shanequia Lauderdale of Sylacauga, AL, and Ashanti Lauderdale of Jacksonville, FL; two step sisters, Evelene Johnson, and Christine (Anthony) Cook; four step brothers, Cornelius Johnson, Dykirion Swain, Christopher Johnson, and Amir Swain; a very special and loving friend, Andrea Irvin of Lexington, KY; some very special nieces, and nephews who he was like a father to, Cory, Miya, Antwain, Promyse and Tiana; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.  

Celebration of life for Errikus Shauntel Nichols (Rico), age 36, will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00PM at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama. Pastor Carlos Woodward, Eulogist.  Public viewing will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Community Funeral Home.
