George L. Simmons Obituary

George L. Simmons was born on April 14th, 1947, in Talladega, Alabama to the late Otis Smith and Mary Lou Rowland.  He peacefully departed us on Monday, November 14th, 2022, at Parker Jewish Institute in New Hyde Park, New York.  

George Known to some as "Bigdaddy" and to others "Big George" was well-respected pillar of his community in both Great Neck and Bayside, New York.  

George was preceded in death by grandmother, Vernon Wilson, father, Otis Smith, mother, Mary Lou Rowland, brother, Donald Rowland, daughter, Kishla "Annette" Nixon and grandson, Marsallis Wallace. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Carmen Simmons; sister, Mary Edna (Henry) Spruill of North Carolina; brother, Anthony Quinn (Terry) Rowland of New York; sons, Anthony (Renee) Wallace of Georgia, Terrance Simmons of Virginia, Timothy Billingsley of Alabama, Michael Othello and Sean (Annette) Nixon of New York; daughters, Cecilia Simmons and Aurel Douglas of New York;  grandchildren, Miguel Cardy, Sean Nixon, II, Danielle Nixon, Alyssa Nixon, Cherri Spruill, Monique Wallace, Teryn Simmons, Saquan Lavelle Foard and Tatiana (Saif) Parks;  Great grandchildren, Cameron Parks, Oliver Lavelle Parker, and Siara Carlean Parker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
