Geraldine Taylor Hoytt, affectionately called “Penny” to all who loved her, began her earthly journey on December 15, 1952 in Talladega County, Alabama, to the parents L.D. Taylor and Lena Bell Woods Taylor. Mrs. Hoytt joined her parents, and brothers, Lawrence Taylor and Robert Paul Swain in her Heavenly transition on August 1, 2023 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Penny accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Tallassahatchie Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, Alabama. She matriculated through the Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg, Alabama. Penny worked in the administration field and retired as a payroll clerk.
Along Penny’s life’s journey she met and united with Jerry A. Hoytt. Penny was unique and classy in her own ways, full of life. Was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a loving spouse, Jerry A. Hoytt; loving children, Dion Porter, Reginald Porter, Christy Porter, LaTarice McKinney, and Antonio Hoytt; brother, Joe Bob (Glenda) Taylor; sisters, Barbara Swain, Patricia McKinney, Myrtis (James) Jones, Mary Louise (Pearly) Battle and Eloise McNealey; nine grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to Sandra Woodgett Steele and Bridgette Woodgett Carol for all the assistance and support given to the family during this time.
