Mrs. Gertrude Taylor McKinney was born on August 2, 1958 to the parentage of the late Sam Scott, Jr. and Jennie Lee Reynolds in Dayton, Alabama.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Harpersville, Alabama. She served as president of the Usher Board and Church Hospitality for many years.
Mrs. Gertrude Taylor united in Holy Matrimony on October 17, 1977 to James Allen McKinney to this union two children were born.
Mrs. McKinney was a faithful member of Lille B. Chapter 582 Order of Eastern Star since 1991. She served as Treasurer of the Lille B. Chapter 582.
She was employed at Parker Vulcon, Sylacauga, AL. She had a passion for baking cakes for many friends, family and the community.
On April 3, 2020 Gertrude Taylor McKinney departed this walk of life at Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Scott, Jr., and other relatives and friends.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a loving husband of forty-two years, James A. McKinney of Harpersville, AL; two loving children, Gregory A. McKinney of Inverness, AL; and Candreka D. (Michael) McKinney of Harpersville, AL; a loving mother, Jennie L. Reynolds of Harpersville, AL; three grandchildren, Zyikeriah D. Benson, J’Len A. Benson, and Ja’Haven Benson; five brothers, Chris Reynolds of Birmingham, AL; Eddie (Letitia) Reynolds of South Carolina; Halbert (Artavia) Reynolds of Chelsea, AL; Donovan Jackson of Chicago, IL; and Glenn Collins of Detroit, MI; three sisters, Linda Reynolds of Gadsden, AL; Bridget McKinney of Harpersville, AL; and Sylvia (Greg) Brown of Huntsville, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
