Ms. Gloria A. (Cannon) Slaughter was born April 7, 1942 to the late Mr. John Cannon and Mrs.Julia Mae Sanders Cannon.
Ms. Slaughter was a native of Sylacauga and well known in the community. She is remembered fondly of her free spirit and love for dancing. In 2017 she was crowned “Miss Brown Nursing Home”. Gloria was affectionately known to her family and close friends by the nickname “Moot”. Ms. Slaughter accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She departed this life on February 20, 2020 at Brown Nursing & Rehabilitation Home In Alexander City, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Bessie Mae Oden, Annie Bell McGowan and Lillie Robinson. Two brothers; John Henry Cannon and Eugene Cannon; one grandson Lawrence Cannon.
Ms. Slaughter leaves to cherish her memories ex-husband J. T. Slaughter of Oklahoma City, OK. Two daughters; Juliet Cannon and Antoinette Cannon both of Oklahoma City, OK. Four sons; J.T. Slaughter Jr, Billy Slaughter, Patrick (Jennifer)Slaughter all of Oklahoma City, OK and Curtis(LaKaila)Slaughter of Ft Worth, TX. One sister; Mrs. Willodean Borden of Sylacauga, AL. Twenty-one grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
