Rockford, Alabama - A precious one from us is gone, a voice we love is still, and a place is vacant in our home that can never be filled. On June 22, 1944, Milton and Hattie Leverett welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Hattie B. Leverette in Coosa County, Alabama. A beacon of kindness and love will forever reside in our hearts forever. She departed this walk of life on December 18, 2024, at her residence, in Rockford, Alabama.
Hattie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As a child she united her faith and became a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Hanover, Alabama. Later she united her faith and became a member of First Baptist Church in Rockford, Alabama. She received her education in the Coosa County School System and Sylacauga City School System, attending J.D. Thompson and East Highland High School.
Shortly after receiving her education, she was employed with Russell Mills for many years as a seamstress and line waitress. After retiring, she enjoyed going to restaurants, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Hattie was known for her radiant smile, amazing cakes, and pies, and world-renowned chicken dressing.
Hattie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Milton and Hattie Leverett, her son, John, brothers Jather Lauderdale, and Robert Lauderdale, and sister, Brenda Wilson. Her love will forever be cherished by, Adored sister, Juliette Cunningham, special caretaker nephew, Darryl Cunningham, sisters-in-law, Janet Lauderdale, and Maggie Lauderdale, close nieces and nephews that were her bonus children, Michelle (George) Grimes, Christopher (Shericko) Leverette, Marcus Leverett, and Robin (Verlon) Frazier, and a host of other relatives, loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Celebration of life for Hattie B. Leverett, age 80, will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Rockford, Alabama. Pastor Stanford Benson, Officiating. Interment will commence in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hanover, Alabama. Public viewing will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
