James Appleberry (affectionately known as Jimmy by his siblings and Appleberry by many others) was born September 16, 1942 in Hollendale, MS, to the late George and Miley Appleberry. He accepted Christ at an early age while living in Mississippi and was a faithful member of Pine Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church here in Sylacauga, Alabama up until his rest.
Seeking advancement, Appleberry moved to Rochester, NY in the early 1960’s. He was a “jack of all trades,” where he owned a corner store, and worked for Xerox Corporation for over 14 years. Pursuing his passion, he left Xerox and started his own successful remodeling/ renovation business. Appleberry leaves a legacy of quality craftsmanship to many homes and businesses which will always be remembered.
On July 25, 1987, Appleberry married his soulmate, Jackie Seabon. Altogether, they enjoyed 38 years of love and devotion. They decided to share the “scent of happiness” where they owned and operated Jackie’s Incense. Although he was not a man of many words, he loved his family, friends and most of all, the Lord. He wanted to share the truth about the Sabbath (Ceremonial Law versus the 10 Commandment Law) and his true belief of what he knew God could do for everyone through his spiritual card ministry. Many of us can attest to receiving his uplifting personalized, handwritten Bible quoted cards which always directed us back to God.
Appleberry left an everlasting impact on those he encountered and was a positive role model to many.
He was preceded in death by Willie, Alfred, James, Theodis, and Joel Appleberry.
His love and precious memories will be forever be remember by his loving wife, Jackie Appleberry; seven sons, Khiry Appleberry of Sylacauga, AL; James Jr (Conscious); Shawn; Darrell (Alisa); Jeffrey Appleberry all of Rochester, NY; Bryan and Glen Appleberry both of Atlanta, GA; three daughters, Trina White and Tachina Appleberry both of Sylacauga, AL; and Rasheeda Appleberry of Rochester, NY; five siblings, John (Lila), Malcom (Delores) Appleberry, Sandra Gabir-Lott all of Rochester, NY; Ernest (Annette) Appleberry of Chicago, IL; and Georgia Hymes of Hollendale, MS; one brother in law, Jesse Seabon; four sister in laws, Katie Harvey, Tina (Reggie) Robinson, and Vickie (Shorty) Moore all of Rochester, NY and Pamela (Anthony) Trammell of Dover, DE, thirty three grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
