Deacon James Milton Crowe, Sr. affectionately known as Jelly was born on April 5, 1939, to the parentage of the late Milton Crowe and the late Mamie Crowe.
Along Deacon Crowe’s life’s journey, he met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Hattie M. Johnson on March 15, 1959. To this union two children were born, Lou Ann Whetstone and James Crowe, Jr. Prior to the marriage he helped raise two stepdaughters, Betty and Rosetta Johnson. James and Hattie were blessed with 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Deacon Crowe education began in Talladega Springs, Alabama and later he transferred to Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg, Alabama.
He was indeed a hard worker, to provide for his family by trait which provided for him to be self-employed. Deacon Crowe had a love for the logging business, he took a leap of faith and became an entrepreneur and opened his logging business. Later on in life he was employed with Floyd and Beasley and Avondale Mills where he later retired.
Deacon Crowe was a man who loved God, he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama where he served as a Deacon. In the early 1970’s he was a member of Truelight Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where he received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He served on the Deacon board; he was a devotional leader and a member of the Alabama Diocese Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Alabama Bad Boys Group. He also served as a Trustee and a faith devoted member at Truelight.
Deacon Crowe departed this walk of life on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, two brothers, four sisters, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
His love and precious memories will always be remembered by his daughter, Lou Ann (Arthur) Whetstone and son, James Crowe, Jr.; grandchildren, Undre Crowe, Raven Coleman, Adrian Crowe, Lorenzo (Kayla) Crowe, and Marcus Crowe; Great grandchildren, KeUndra Crowe, Dezchana Wright, Aaliyah McCoy, Jakobi Garrett, Brianna Crowe, and Jayce Crowe; great-great grandchild, Koa Crowe; six God grandchildren, fifteen great God grandchildren, three brothers, Pastor Marvin (Beverly) Crowe, Pastor John (Betty) Crowe, and Larry (Teresa) Crowe; two sisters, Shirley (Benjamin) Ware, and Gurthie Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
