James William Pope Obituary

James William Pope earthly journey began on May 15, 1950 to the parentage of the late John Samuel Pope and the late Myrtis Brown in Camphill, Alabama.

At an early age, James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with The Assembly of Divine Reality, INC—Anniston Branch. As a youth he was educated in the Talladega County School System and became a 1969 graduate of  East Highland High School, Sylacauga, Alabama.

James joined the United States Navy in 1972 and was honorable discharged on November 14, 1974.  After he furthered his work ethics and was a dedicated employee of Kimberly Clark until his retirement.  He later became a employee of Twin City Security in Childersburg, Alabama. 

James departed this walk of life on June 29, 2021 at his residence in Talladega, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Samuel Pope and Myrtis Brown and grandparents, Mary Harris Brown and Charlie Brown.

His love and precious memories will forever be remembered by his loving daughter, Kelsey O’Neal of Birmingham, AL; one son, Terry Phifer of Sylacauga, AL; two grandchildren, Korrie O’Neal and Keiko Gaiter both of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Barbara Ann (Pope) Lorde of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Anderson (Barbara) Pope of Childersburg, AL; one aunt, Mary Charles Smith Adam; two nephews, Kreighton (Jackie) Barr and Patrick R. Lorde both of Chicago, IL; special cousins, Anthony McGhee, Virginia Ousley, and Mitchell Swain; best friend, Joe Powell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
