Janice Porter Swain was born to the parentage of Dorothy Porter and the Late Shadrack Evans, on May 23, 1953, in Childersburg, Alabama.
Janice was a graduate of George Washington High School class of 1971. She continued in education for more than 30 years with the Talladega County Board of Education. She worked as a CNP for Childersburg High School until her retirement after 33 years.
She confessed Christ later in life and joined the Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Childersburg AL, where she served faithful for many years.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Evans and father, Shadrack Evans and her aunt Catherine Singleton.
On the evening of June 8, 2020 in Alabaster, AL, Mrs. Janice Porter Swain departed this walk of life at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish and appreciate her memories, three daughters, Shamika McGhee of Birmingham, AL, LaKasha Bealey and Tamara Hartley of Childersburg, AL.; loving mother, Dorothy Porter of Childersburg, AL; five sisters, Bever-lee (Jerry) Shepherd of Sylacauga, AL; Diane Evans of Los Angeles, California; Dawn Evans of Las Vegas, NV; Doris Evans of Lancaster, CA and Debra Carter of Sylacauga, AL; three brothers: Shadrack Evans Jr. of Childersburg, AL and Kendrick (Pamela) Norris of Opelika, AL, Charlie Evans of Long Beach, CA. nine grandchildren: Sgt. Donnell (Deja) McGhee, Keyuntae Bealey, Brentorreya Truss, Nakhia Bealey, Corlon Mckinney, Tamarrion Hartley, Anyla Hall, Tamera Hartley and Erika Hartley. five great-grand- children: Nadia and Nevaeh Bealey, Donevon McGhee, Kai Boyd and Kaydence Hartley. God-daughter, Maronica Oglesby of Chelsea, AL; God-son, Cordavio Bonner of Childersburg, AL; Special sister: Mary McKenzie of Winterboro, AL, Special aunts: Fannie Calloway and Mary Porter, a special niece: Raynette Bealey, Special Daughters: Turkessa Simmons and Marquisha Garrett, Best Friends: Gwendolyn January and Patricia Snow and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, family and friends who loved and appreciated her.
Janice, was a loving and caring dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and loyal friend.
