Ms. Jennene Ray was born on July 29, 1959 in Queens, Queens County, New York to the parents of Benny Wright and Deloris Ray. Ms. Ray accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She united her faith with Christ Point Community Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.
Ms. Ray received her education and graduated at Yonkers High School in Yonkers, New York. She was employed with Sunshine Cleaning Service of Orlando, Florida for many years and Bar B Que Shack in Pine Hill, Florida for a number of years.
Ms. Ray was active in the community in Sylacauga. She volunteered at Drew Court Recreation facility helping with the summer food program. She was a God-fearing woman. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very caring and thoughtful, and she didn’t pull any punches. She loved to hug.
Ms. Ray departed this walk of life on June 6, 2023, under the care of St. Vincent East Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by grandparents maternal, Emma Jane and Henry Ray, mother, Deloris Ray, father, Benny Wright, sister, Bendetta Wright, aunts, Juanita Ray, Viola Ray, Ann Gibson, husband, William Daniel Barrett, uncles, Victor Ray, James Ray, Thomas Ray and numerous other family members.
Her love will forever be cherished by her loving daughter, Rahkyia Gibson of Sylacauga, AL; grandchildren, Marlon J. Jackson, Zharia D. Jackson, and Ashley B. Jackson all of Sylacauga, AL; two sisters, Arlanna Ray -Nazario, of New York, and Monica Burnette Hudson of New York; one brother, Dwayne Ray of New York; nieces, Quiana Middleton, Elisha King, Shanika Ward, Princess Ward, Lakeisha Walker, Sheyenne Rhodes, and Aja Hudson; nephews, Taiwan Wright, and Jaquan Burnette; and a host of other relatives and friends.
