Jerrlyn Kelley Obituary

Jerrlyn Kelley, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on April 28, 1944, to the parentage of Joe Kelley and Gennie Street in Shelby County, Alabama.

Jerrlyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Scott’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Vincent, Alabama. Later she united her faith with Watchman Ministries, Stafford, Virginia.  Jerrlyn received her formal education from Shelby County School System and later graduated from Shelby County Training School.  She furthered her education and attended Nunely State Technical College (Central Alabama Community College), Childersburg, Alabama, and received her Diploma in Practical Nursing.   

Jerrlyn was employed as an LPN with Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama for over 30 years.  She served with a heart of love for every patient, even as she faced racial inequality. 

On February 13th, 2022, Jerrlyn Kelley departed this walk of life at her residence, Childersburg, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Aldrick Kelley, Emmit Kelley, and Joseph Kelley, sisters, Obera Franklin, Vera Fair, Willie Jo Kelley, Gennetter K. Ricks, Betty Chastang, Lily Mae Young, Ella Ree Greathouse and Catherine K. Smith, and two granddaughters, Keactra Kelley and Lauren Nabors.

Her love will forever be cherish by her loving children, Pastor Eric (Dr. Sharon) Kelley of Stafford, VA, Letitia (Eddie) Reynolds of Sumter, SC; Warren (Robyn) Kelley of Dumfries, VA , Elaine Wallace of Harpersville, Al, and Verica Cottingham of Harpersville, AL; her sister: Rose Drummond, Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren: Shelkieta Kelley of Stafford, VA, Lavanna (Brian) Corbin of Hughesville, MD; Letevia (Kaly) Herlong of Alabaster, AL; Darnell (Lisa) Kelley of Talladega, AL, Derrione (Chiyoka) Kelley of Spanaway, WA, Sharonda Kelley of Houston, TX;  Warren Kelley Jr of Auburn, AL; Brianna McCrimon of Harpersville, AL; Charles Nabors of Birmingham, AL;  Shiloh Kelley, Shahaira Kelley, Shyah Kelley all of Stafford, VA; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
