Obituary

Mr. Jesse James Kelly, Sr. (Jimmy) returned to his heavenly home on April 28, 2022, after four heroic battles with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

He was born to the late Mr. Lee Arthur Kelly, Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Kelly in Lowndes County, Hayneville, Alabama on November 23, 1950. He was raised by his mother and late grandmother, Ms. Mary Anna Baker. He always talked about how his mother and grandmother taught him the principles of life and to be dedicated to what was most important in his life, family.

He attended school in Lowndes County and later moved to Birmingham to live with his mother and attended Parker High School.  After leaving school, he served in the United States Army for a little while. He was a dedicated employee with Princeton Baptist Medical Center for several years until he found his passion in life, driving trucks. He spent most of his life driving trucks for Orgill, Inc, Floyd & Beasley, Averitt, and Excel Transportation. He was giving a road CB channel handle of Poe Boy.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Rebecca Kelly of Sylacauga, AL,  sons, Demetrius Kelly of Opelika, AL, Charles Parks of Birmingham, AL, Stephen Huntley, Marcus Huntley both of Sylacauga, AL, LaShaun Huntley of New York, NY, Quanterrick Huntley, and Jesse James Kelly, Jr. both of Sylacauga, AL; daughters, Lucy Parks, Tomika Parks, LaToya Parks all of Birmingham AL, and Se’lecca Huntley of Sylacauga AL; brothers, Joseph Kelly, Lee (Betty) Kelly, and Denise (Viola) Kelly; sisters, Susan (Joe) Hill of Hayneville, AL, Annie Marie Kelly, Carolyn Kelly, Brenda (Cleveland) Fox all of Birmingham AL; one aunt, Sarah Bonner of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Reggie Byron, Reginae Byron, Isaiah Kelly, Temariom Rutledge, Jackson Rutledge, Gavin Rutledge, Terry Miller, Shameria Prince, Daquon Parks, Dmonyae Parks, Jakeem Parks, Rakeem Parks, Jaylyn Goins, Jamaya Parks, Jeremy Parks, Brielle Hale, Madelyn Huntley, Rylan Knight, Marcus Huntley, Jr., Maxxon Huntley, Jordyn Huntley, Tobias Huntley, Keisyn Nettles, and Rory Peyton; others special loved ones to his heart, Katara (Eric) Clark, Janika Kelly, the late Timothy Kelly, O’Neal Adair, Jasmine Huntley and Perry Sanders.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Lee Arthur Kelly, mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Kelly, Grandmother, Ms. Mary Baker, Grandfather, Lee Arthur Kelly, Sr. and his sisters Loretta Wilson, and Robin Kelly.
