Jimmy Lee Thomas Obituary

Harpersville, Alabama - Mr. Jimmy Lee Thomas was born on July 5, 1937, in Harpersville, Alabama, to the late Prime Thomas and Fannie Jane Thomas.  At an early age, Mr. Thomas accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, a faith that remained the foundation of his life.

Mr. Thomas proudly served in the United States Army for three years.  Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Brasfield & Gorrie, where he worked faithfully for over 40 years until his retirement.  He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in providing for his family.

Beyond his work, Mr. Thomas was a man who found joy in the simple blessings of life.  He cherished time spent with his family, whether it was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply being present.  He had a warm spirit that made others feel welcome, and his quiet strength and steady presence were a source of comfort to those who knew him.  He enjoyed lending his time and talents to others and never hesitated to step in wherever help was needed.

Mr. Thomas will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit.  He truly had a heart of gold and found great joy in helping others.  Whether it was family members, a friend, or someone in the community, he was always willing to lend a hand.  He loved deeply, cared genuinely, and never hesitated to show up for those in need.  Helping others wasn’t just something he did - it was his passion and a reflection of who he was.  His legacy of love, compassion, and service will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Thomas departed this life on May 1, 2026 at his residence in Harpersville, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his son, Clifton Thomas, brothers, Willie Dee Thomas, Curtis Thomas, Isiah Middleton, Wallace Thomas, and Tommie Thomas, sisters, Mat Lou Threatt, Ozie Thomas, Marion Thomas, and Elizabeth Thomas.

Mr. Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years, Dorthena Thomas; sons, Jimmie Ray Thomas (Valerie) of Birmingham, AL, and Eric Mann (Rhonda) of Childersburg, AL; daughters, Teressa Mahan (Kenneth) of Birmingham, AL, Lisa Little (Antonio) of Hueytown, AL, and LaTonya Turner (Andri) of Chelsea, AL; sisters, Willie J. Bridges (Charles) of Cleveland, OH, Jacqueline Davis of New Jersey, and Linda G. Vanderhorst (Roy) of New Jersey; two devoted sister in laws, Roberta Thomas, and Mary Thomas; and brother in law, Elvis Mann (Rita).  He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
