Sylacauga - A precious one from us is gone, a voice we love is still, and a place is vacant in our home that can never be filled. On December 3, 1948, through God’s grace, the late Toney B. Jackson and the late Essie Mae Jackson proudly became the parents of JoAnn Jackson Funderburg. JoAnn departed this walk of life on December 3, 2024, under the care of Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.
Throughout JoAnn’s life, she attended church in Sycamore, Alabama at Mountain Home Baptist Church. She had a love for Jesus Christ and her faith in God was unwavering. She is an Alumni of R. R. Moton High School in Sycamore, Alabama.
JoAnn served and was a dedicated employee with the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind School, as a cook.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one sister, four brothers, and a granddaughter. Her love will forever be remembered by her loving children, Paul S. Funderburg, Sharon L. Hale, Mary (David) Russell, all of Sylacauga, AL, and Barbara L. Funderburg of Talladega, AL; four loving sisters, Joyce A. Cook, Jacquline D. Jackson both of Sylacauga, AL, Janice D. Jackson and Rosetta Jackson both of Sycamore, AL; three brothers, Terry (Ada) Jackson, William (Margie) Jackson and Johnny (Denise) Jackson all of Sycamore, AL; four grandchildren, Mario Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Brian Funderburg, and Joanna Hale; seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
